Every purchase on Clype comes with a real license — a documented, perpetual grant of rights from the streamer to you. This page explains how our licenses work in plain English.
The fine print, up front: This page is a summary for convenience. The legally binding terms of your purchase are set out in the License Certificate issued at checkout and in our Terms of Service. If anything here conflicts with your License Certificate, the certificate governs.
When you buy a license on Clype, the streamer — who owns the content — grants you permission to use it under defined terms. Clype facilitates the transaction, delivers the clean source file, and issues a License Certificate (PDF) that documents exactly what you purchased: the content, the license type, the allowed uses, and the restrictions.
Three things are true of every Clype license:
It's perpetual. Pay once, use forever. Licenses never expire and there are no recurring fees.
The streamer keeps ownership. A license is permission to use the content — not a transfer of ownership. The streamer always retains full ownership of their work.
Your certificate is your proof. Every purchase generates a License Certificate with a unique license ID. If a platform, brand, or rights question ever comes up, your certificate is the documented evidence of your rights.

Do I really own the rights forever? You own a perpetual license — permission to use the content under your tier's terms, with no expiration. The streamer retains ownership of the content itself.
Can someone else license the same clip? Yes. Clype licenses are non-exclusive — multiple buyers can license the same content. Your license protects your right to use it; it doesn't prevent others from licensing it too.
What if I need rights beyond what these tiers cover? For uses outside these tiers — broadcast, exclusivity, or other special arrangements — contact us at support@clype.co and we'll work with the streamer on your behalf.
What happens if content I licensed is removed from Clype? If content is removed due to a rights dispute, we may suspend its availability and affected buyers may be eligible for a refund under our Terms of Service. Your License Certificate remains your record of the original purchase.
Does my license cover the music, games, or other people in the clip? Streamers certify their rights to the content they upload, and we review uploads before listing. However, your license covers the rights the streamer grants — see the Terms of Service for details on how third-party elements are handled and what the streamer warrants.
Can I transfer my license to someone else? No. Licenses are issued to the purchasing account and are non-transferable.
If you're unsure whether your intended use is covered, ask us before you publish: support@clype.co. We'd rather answer a question than have you guess.
